It is possible to generate additional earnings by selecting the right job based on one’s skills, time availability, and experience.
Based on IBN News surveys and current market analysis, here are 10 popular ways to increase income:
1. Ride-sharing
You can earn extra income by driving for platforms like Uber or Lyft. Demand is higher during evenings, nights, or weekends.
2. Food delivery
It is possible to earn money by delivering food via services like DoorDash, Uber Eats, or Grubhub. This work can be done using a bicycle, scooter, or car.
3. Part-time restaurant work
You can work as a waiter, server, bartender, or kitchen staff member during evenings and weekends. Earnings—including tips—can sometimes match those of a primary job.
4. Hotel and catering
Extra shifts are available for banquets, events, conventions, and catering services. Demand increases particularly during holidays and wedding seasons.

Precautions and Advice
When choosing part-time work, it is important to consider valid work authorization, income tax, platform fees, commuting costs, and your primary job’s schedule.
According to IRS rules, income earned from the gig economy or part-time work must be reported on your tax return, even if you do not receive a 1099 form.
If net earnings are $400 or more, self-employment tax (15.3%) applies. Therefore, the actual amount remaining after deducting expenses is what matters most.
