New York: A deeply meaningful and joyful birthday celebration was held on August 15, 2026, for Liam Dominguez, the courageous Queens child who survived one of the most devastating arson attacks in New York City. Family, friends and numerous FDNY firefighters gathered to celebrate Liam’s special milestone and share heartfelt birthday wishes.Liam’s remarkable journey began on July 10, 2019, when a tragic fire in East Elmhurst claimed the lives of his mother, Elizabeth Rodriguez, his six-year-old sister, Emma Dominguez, and his grandfather, Claudio Rodriguez. Firefighters found then-10-month-old Liam in his mother’s arms. In her final moments, his mother had attempted to protect her infant son with her own body.Liam suffered burns over more than 95 percent of his body. Doctors initially believed his chances of survival were extremely low. He was later transferred to the specialized burn unit at Shriners Hospital for Children in Galveston, Texas, where he underwent extensive medical treatment, multiple surgeries and a long rehabilitation process.Against extraordinary odds, Liam survived. Over the years, his courage and determination have inspired countless people. His journey has also created a special and lasting bond with the FDNY firefighters who helped rescue him.
