While recent allegations and information leaks concerning the hotel workers’ union have sparked fresh discussion, union members note that these allegations remain unproven. Union authorities have denied the claims, stating that an internal investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing.
The union asserts that organizations like HTC-Local 6 have successfully secured significant wage increases, improved contracts, and healthcare benefits for workers in recent years.
Md. Nasir, a hotel worker and union member, said, “As a proud union member, I judge our union not by rumors or negative propaganda, but by our achievements and results.”
He stated that the true measure of a union’s effectiveness lies in securing strong contracts, better wages, improved benefits, and a powerful voice for workers in the workplace. In his view, a union’s success should be evaluated based on improvements in workers’ living standards, workplace safety, and collective bargaining capabilities.
Md. Nasir added, “I thank everyone who has worked tirelessly for our members—especially Rich Maroko and the union leadership. Our strength grows when we stand united.”
He concluded his remarks by saying, “Together we are stronger. Solidarity!”
Meanwhile, labor analysts observe that the allegations raised against the union require investigation, while the organization’s tangible achievements are also a crucial part of the overall assessment. They maintain that these claims should be treated merely as allegations until proven otherwise.
